Year of Establishment 
The Department of English has been established in the year 1966. Since then the department has been working with the motive to educate the students with full potential. Along with teaching core courses it seeks to develop language skills among students.   

Facilities :

The Department is well equipped with audio  language laboratory  to enhance students’abilities in spoken english. The lab has 6 audio units for students and a teacher’s console. Additionally, the department has 10 computers with internet connetcions so that the Arts students can have liberal accesss to internet.

 Departmental Activities:

The department English language and litarature rus various activities for students in order to support learning and encourage them to study the subject.Through  language and litarary club competitions such as caligraphy competition, seminar competition,book review competition, Poster presentation competition, article writing competition , etc. are held each year. The department  seeks to develop language proficiency through class seminars, lab sessons, group discussion sessions,ear training,internet access etc.Guest lectures help students to access new knowledge in the field.

 

Research Activities:

 

Dr.K.D.Bompilwar, head of the department has completed  UGC funded minor research project on “ A Study of English as a second Language in Rural Areas: With Special reference to Umarkhed TAlukanin the year 2012.

She has been  awarded  ‘Doctor of Philosophy’ on 22 Nov.2016  by S.R.T.M.U.Nanded . The title of thesis is “Caste and Gender Consciousness in the writings of Marathi Dalit Women Writers’.

In Nov. 2018 she has completed ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching of English’  from EFLU, Hyderabad with  “A” grade.

The faculty are actively involved in research publications in international and national journals, International and national conferences, seminars and workshops. So far 40 + papers have been published.
